Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Christian Couriers vs. Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles

Clinton Christian hasn't had much luck against Elkhart Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Clinton Christian Couriers will look to defend their home court against the Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles at 12:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Clinton Christian will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Trinity Greenlawn, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Clinton Christian narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Trinity Greenlawn 39-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Couriers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clinton Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Saghan Schlabach, who posted 12 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Madi Yoder, who put up eight points and 11 rebounds.

Clinton Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Elkhart Christian Academy entered their tilt with Triton on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Trojans as they made off with a 58-36 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 22 points or more this season.

Elkhart Christian Academy's win came from a few key players Clinton Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lily Maxwell, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivy Clapsaddle, who posted 16 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Elkhart Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Clinton Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Clinton Christian was taken down by Elkhart Christian Academy 59-22 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Clapsaddle, who went 9 of 18 on her way to 20 points and four steals.
