Basketball Recap: Monomoy Takes a Loss

Monomoy fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Hopedale on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sharks of the 45-44 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Hopedale's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nate Rutkowski, who posted 15 points. That's the most points Rutkowski has posted since back in January. JJ Douglas was another key player, putting up 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Monomoy and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Hopedale, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Monomoy and Bourne will round out the year against one another at 6:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Hopedale, they will square off against Batson Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
