Softball Recap: Newport Harbor Takes a Loss

Newport Harbor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 13-1 to the Huntington Beach Oilers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Oilers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Thursday.

Newport Harbor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ally Shaw, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Newport Harbor's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Huntington Beach, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Newport Harbor is set to challenge their familiar foe Marina at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Huntington Beach will take on rival Corona del Mar at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
