Baseball Recap: Burrell Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Burrell waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Deer Lakes Lancers by a score of 5-2. The Bucs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lancers, too.

Stephen Hasson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Burrell pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Deer Lakes, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burrell will head out to face off against Leechburg at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Bucs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Deer Lakes, they will square off against Ligonier Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
