Softball Game Preview: Hilliard Davidson Wildcats vs. Big Walnut Golden Eagles

The Hilliard Davidson Wildcats will take on the Big Walnut Golden Eagles at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Hilliard Davidson fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Hilliard Darby last Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 4-3.

Meanwhile, Big Walnut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 14-5 to Johnstown-Monroe. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Golden Eagles have suffered since April 17th.

Ellie Crotty was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Clever, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Hilliard Davidson's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Big Walnut, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.

Everything went Hilliard Davidson's way against Big Walnut when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as Hilliard Davidson made off with a 15-5 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
