Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Fletcher's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Fletcher ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Mandarin Mustangs 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Senators also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Kyle Johnson tossed a big game, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Gabe Hernandez and Jakeb McDougall did most of the damage at the plate: Hernandez went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while McDougall went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most runs Hernandez has posted since back in February.

Fletcher is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. With the loss, Mandarin broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-10.

Fletcher will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against First Coast at 6:30 p.m. on April 8. As for Mandarin, they will square off against Wolfson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
