Baseball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

Cornerstone Christian waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bethel Christian Kings a 20-0 shutout. Considering the Crusaders have won 18 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jayden Soto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since April 1st.

In other batting news, Cornerstone Christian got a massive performance out of Steel Hoham, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave Hoham a new career-high. Lucas Gomez-Creguer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.

Cornerstone Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bethel Christian only managed four hits.

Cornerstone Christian's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Bethel Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Christian will head out to face off against Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bethel Christian, they will venture away from home to take on Calvary Baptist at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
