Baseball Recap: Franklin Monroe Finds Home Field Redemption Against Tri-Village

There's no place like home for Franklin Monroe, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Tri-Village Patriots on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Jets as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Chase Stebbins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has become a key player for Franklin Monroe: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise. Stebbins was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ty Riffle was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brandt Filbrun, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Franklin Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Franklin Monroe's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Tri-Village, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Monroe will square off against Arcanum at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jets will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Tri-Village, they will take on Emmanuel Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
