Hudsonville proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the South Christian Sailors 2-1. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on nine straight.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Hudsonville who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-19, 24-26, 25-14.

Their offense was headlined by Leah Burlison and Piper Vugteveen, who picked up ten kills apiece. They were helped by Jaclyn Keppel and Sofie Sanders, who contributed 19 assists each. Megan Glass controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Despite the loss, South Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kendall Kwantes had nine digs and eight assists.

Hudsonville's record now sits at 11-2. As for South Christian, they moved to 8-7 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Hudsonville and South Christian will both be playing Berrien Springs the next time they take the court. The Eagles will host the Shamrocks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Sailors will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
