Basketball Recap: Bendle's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Bendle waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They snuck past the Hazel Park Vikings with a 64-60 win. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Vikings are ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bendle's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malis Firman, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven assists and six steals. Firman is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Breion Baker, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Bendle's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Hazel Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bendle will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hamady at 7:00 a.m. on January 3, 2025. After both having extra time off, Hazel Park and Clawson will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
