Game recap: Carter High School Football Team bests San Gorgonio

RIALTO, Calif. - Clayton Atlas ran for two touchdowns and Traveon Brown added three as well as Carter (Rialto, Calif.) beat San Gorgonio (San Bernardino, Calif.) 49-14 on Saturday.

The score was knotted at 14 heading into the half. The Lions took the lead for good on a Brown touchdown run with 7:00 to go in the third quarter.

Carter put up 28 points in the third quarter en route to the win. CHS scored on a touchdown run by Brown, a Atlas touchdown run, a touchdown catch by Atlas and a touchdown run by Atlas in the quarter.

Tahir Rasheed-Mills played well for the Spartans. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to six on the year.

The Rialto school came into the game allowing 8.1 points per game. San Gorgonio's 14 points were well below its season average of 35.3 per game. SG came in giving up 15.7 points per game this season. The San Bernardino school struggled against the Lions, which came in averaging 37.6 points per game.



When the two teams played each other last season, Carter came away with a 28-25 victory.

The defeat comes as a step back for San Gorgonio, which notched a 40-8 victory over San Bernardino in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Spartans' 3-game winning streak.

In a San Andreas game next week Carter (8-0) takes on Pacific, and San Gorgonio (6-2) will go up against Arroyo Valley also in a San Andreas game.
