Softball Recap: Dobie Wins Going Away Against Pasadena Memorial

Dobie barely beat Pasadena Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Dobie blew past Pasadena Memorial 16-1 on Monday. Considering the Longhorns have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Vanessa De La Fuente looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Natalie De Hoyos, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Alexis Martinez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Dobie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Dobie is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. Pasadena Memorial has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, Dobie and Pasadena Memorial will both be playing Shadow Creek the next time they take the field. Dobie will host Shadow Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Pasadena Memorial will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
