Basketball Recap: Comer's Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Comer unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the ITW David Speer Academy Pride, falling 51-31. The Catamounts were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pride earlier this season, when they won 40-21.

Miabella Collazo continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for ITW David Speer Academy, putting up 18 points and seven blocks. With that strong performance, Collazo is now averaging an impressive 2.2 blocks per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Anaiyah Costoso, who posted 11 points.

Comer's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for ITW David Speer Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

Comer and ITW David Speer Academy's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Comer will square off against The Noble Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd, a squad that's only allowed 27.71 points per game. Comer's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so ITW David Speer Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
