Preview: Surprise Valley Hornets vs. Dunsmuir Tigers

Surprise Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They and the Dunsmuir Tigers will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Surprise Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday.

Surprise Valley scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They breezed by Dunsmuir at home to the tune of 69-34. That looming 69-34 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Surprise Valley yet this season.

Surprise Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Casey Grove, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Grove has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Paul Bartolo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Surprise Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Dunsmuir, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

Everything came up roses for Surprise Valley against the Tigers in their previous matchup on Wednesday as the squad secured a 69-34 win. With Surprise Valley ahead 40-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
