Baseball Game Preview: Del Norte Knights vs. Albuquerque Academy Chargers

Del Norte hasn't had much luck against Albuquerque Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Knights will look to defend their home field against the Chargers at 4:00 p.m. Del Norte has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Del Norte couldn't beat Bernalillo on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Knights lost 15-5 to the Spartans.

Meanwhile, Albuquerque Academy faced Hope Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Chargers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Huskies, sneaking past 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Chargers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

EJ Gallardo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Olson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.

Albuquerque Academy's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Del Norte, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15-1.
