Basketball Game Preview: Big Valley Cardinals vs. Hayfork Timberjacks

The Big Valley Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Hayfork Timberjacks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Monday, Big Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 60-55 to Tulelake.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Connor Kenobbie, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. Josue Barba was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Hayfork's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were dealt a 69-32 loss at the hands of Redding Christian. The matchup marked the Timberjacks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Hayfork's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Big Valley, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.

Big Valley was dealt a bruising 66-23 defeat at the hands of Hayfork when the teams last played back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hayfork's Levi Cavalli, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Now that Big Valley knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
