Recap: Altamont Longhorns vs. Wendover Wildcats

The Altamont Longhorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 80-53 defeat at the hands of Wendover. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Altamont has suffered yet this season.

When it comes to explaining why Altamont lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grayson Panas. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. That was a full 43.4% of Altamont's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ashton Arnold, who scored 14 points.

Wendover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Raul Valle, who scored 26 points along with six assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Valle has scored all season. Efren Delmuro was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five assists and three steals.

Altamont bumped their record down to 3-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Wendover, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Altamont will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Green River at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Green River has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 393 points over their last six matches. As for Wendover, they will head out on the road to challenge Manila at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Manila focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
