Basketball Recap: Luke Irwin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cedar Ridge over Vandegrift

Cedar Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 49-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vandegrift Vipers. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 637th, while the Vipers are ranked 175th).

Cedar Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Irwin, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Keen, who put up eight points.

Cedar Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 9-19. As for Vandegrift, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-9.

Cedar Ridge is taking a road trip to face off against Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vista Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season. As for Vandegrift, they will welcome Manor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vandegrift is facing Manor at the right time seeing as Manor is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
