Volleyball Recap: Clear Creek Falls Despite Big Games from Sofia Dhanji and Elissa James

If Clear Creek was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Clear Brook on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell just short of the Clear Lake Falcons by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Clear Creek took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-22, 16-14.

Despite the defeat, Clear Creek had strong showings from Elissa James, who had 37 digs and three assists, and Sofia Dhanji, who had 20 digs and four assists. James is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last 14 games she's played.

Clear Creek's loss ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-18. As for Clear Lake, their win bumped their record up to 26-14.

Clear Creek and Clear Lake should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 173rd) will meet Brazoswood (ranked 854th) at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Clear Lake will take on Clear Brook at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (168 vs. 416).
