Softball Recap: Mart Gets the Win

Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Tuesday. Mart came out on top against Abbott by a score of 9-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-1 back in February.

Harley Desmuke made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Desmuke was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Marley Maas and Addyson Pechacek did most of the damage at the plate: Maas went 1-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base, while Pechacek went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Lexi Arnett was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Mart has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Abbott, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Mart will have a chance to go back-to-back against Abbott: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
