Basketball Recap: Lanier Christian Academy Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, Lanier Christian Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They snuck past the Creekside Christian Academy Cougars with a 55-50 win. This was a revenge game for the Lightning: when they faced off against the Cougars back in December of 2024, they had to take a 52-15 loss.

Lanier Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Adelyn Gough, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Gough. The team also got some help courtesy of Julianne Roberts, who posted nine points and eight boards.

Lanier Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Creekside Christian Academy only four assists.

Creekside Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trinity Grant, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Grant continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyra Ware, who put up 16 points and seven steals.

The victory got Lanier Christian Academy back to even at 14-14. As for Creekside Christian Academy, their record now sits at 15-2.

Lanier Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 35-23 loss against Horizon Christian Academy on the 20th. Creekside Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
