Basketball Recap: San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy Takes a Loss

San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 49-13 loss at the hands of the KIPP Somos Collegiate Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-26 back in December of 2024.

KIPP Somos Collegiate found their leader in freshman Elizabeth Pena, who posted 25 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Pena has scored at least a third of KIPP Somos Collegiate's points. TyKirah Steele was another key player, putting up ten points.

San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for KIPP Somos Collegiate, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-9.

San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for KIPP Somos Collegiate, they will venture away from home to face off against Somerset Academy Collegiate at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
