Basketball Recap: McMichael Takes a Loss

If McMichael was feeling good fresh off their 62-30 takedown of Walkertown last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The McMichael Phoenix were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 49-48 to the North Forsyth Vikings. The Phoenix were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Jylyia Mizell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Forsyth, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Mizell has scored at least a third of North Forsyth's points. Damiyah Foster was another key player, putting up 14 points and three steals.

McMichael's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for North Forsyth, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-6.

McMichael didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-36 loss against College Prep & Leadership Academy on the 18th. North Forsyth has also already played their next match, a 58-31 victory against Morehead on the 22nd.
