Basketball Game Preview: Coolidge Colts vs. Bard Falcons

Coolidge has gone 3-0 against Bard recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Coolidge Colts will be playing at home against the Bard Falcons at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Coolidge has five straight victories, Bard has 14 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Coolidge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of District of Columbia's top teams: Woodson, who was ranked tenth at the time (Coolidge was ranked first). Coolidge breezed by Woodson to the tune of 76-9 on Friday. The Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 29 points or more this season.

Josslyn Derricott was her usual excellent self, putting up 21 points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshea Fisher, who posted eight points and five assists.

Coolidge was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Bard scored the most points they've had this season back in December of 2024, but it wasn't enough. They received a blow as they fell 40-22 to Woodson.

Coolidge pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.5 points per game. As for Bard, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything came up roses for Coolidge against Bard in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 67-4 victory. Does Coolidge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bard turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
