Basketball Recap: Math & Science College Preparatory Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Sidney Scott and Adan Martinez

Math & Science College Preparatory was the 51-49 winner over Sotomayor when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Math & Science College Preparatory Sharks fell 62-52 to the Sotomayor Wolves on Wednesday. The Sharks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Math & Science College Preparatory had strong showings from Adan Martinez, who posted 22 points, and Sidney Scott, who scored 17 points.

Sotomayor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryan Hernandez led the charge by going 8 of 15 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Hernandez has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorge Penaloza, who put up 15 points and five assists.

Math & Science College Preparatory's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Sotomayor, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-5.

Math & Science College Preparatory wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 75-74 defeat against Arleta on the 19th. As for Sotomayor, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-43 loss against Garfield on the 19th.
