Baseball Recap: Christ the King Finds Playoff Glory Versus Bishop Mcguinness

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Christ the King had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They beat the Bishop McGuinness Villains by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-3. Winning may never get old, but the Crusaders sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Christ the King got a great performance from Colin Ryan as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Ryan a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Troy Alderfer was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as he's now launched at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Jimmy Tamuccio was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Christ the King pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.5 runs across that stretch. As for Bishop McGuinness, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Christ the King will square off against Polk County on Friday. Bishop McGuinness does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
