Preview: Berthoud Spartans vs. Platte Valley Broncos
Berthoud has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Platte Valley Broncos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Berthoud knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Platte Valley likes a good challenge.
Berthoud has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 28 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Kennedy 94-55 on the road. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Reece Stratmeyer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Tate Gomes was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Platte Valley lost to DSST: Montview on the road by a decisive 67-50 margin on Saturday.
Braylon Edstrom put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 25 points along with 9 rebounds. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kody Reusink, who scored 2 points along with 10 rebounds.
The losses dropped Berthoud to 4-1 and Kennedy to 1-3.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: Berthoud have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 7.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Platte Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 6.6 per game. Given Berthoud's sizeable advantage in that area, Platte Valley will need to find a way to close that gap.
