Baseball Recap: Goliad Gets the Win

While Goliad's win against Karnes City wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Badgers on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Badgers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Cy Henke made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Henke was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

Henke wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Phin Wallek, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Goliad now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Karnes City, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.

Goliad wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 19-0 victory against Stockdale on the 28th. As for Karnes City, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-1 win against Nixon-Smiley on the 28th.
