Preview: Dora/Elida vs. Mountainair

Dora/Elida (4-2) and Mountainair (4-1) are set to face off this Friday at 7:00 PM. Mountainair will be looking to take advantage of a struggling Dora/Elida defense that has allowed an average of 36 points per game.

Dora/Elida brought the heat last game after its low-scoring effort (six points) in the match before. The final score between it and Springer last week was a 50 - 6 blowout in Dora/Elida's favor. Senior Zaccary Dewbre was a defensive powerhouse in the win and ended up with 20 total tackles.

Meanwhile, after flying high the game before (50 points), Mountainair faltered in its previous match. There's no need to mince words: it lost to Melrose last week, and it lost bad. The score wound up at 58 - 8. The blowout was painful but not necessarily a surprise as Melrose is ranked 37th in the nation, many places higher than Mountainair.

The last time they met, the final might easily have been mistaken for a basketball score. Mountainair won 68 - 56. Dora/Elida had a lot of yards that game (438) and will likely be setting its aim high again. Will it avenge its loss? We'll find out soon enough.
