Volleyball Recap: Mountain View Takes Down Ranked Pinedale

Mountain View faced Pinedale in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Buffalos narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Wranglers 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buffalos.

Mountain View wouldn't go down easily and took Pinedale into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 23-25, 17-15.

Addyson Stephens paced Mountain View's offense, picking up 20 kills. Stephens got some help from Mariah Micheli and her 48 assists. Stephens was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Pinedale's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Remedios Mata, who had ten digs, and Roxanne Melinkovich, who had 18 kills. Melinkovich is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 12 games she's played. Bodie Walker also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Mountain View's victory bumped their record up to 19-12-1. As for Pinedale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-12-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mountain View will head out to challenge Cokeville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pinedale, they will venture away from home to square off against Green River at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
