The Pershing County Mustangs will welcome the Lincoln County Lynx at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Pershing County sitting on six straight victories and Lincoln County on three.
Pershing County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past North Tahoe to the tune of 52-7. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won nine matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln County). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 58-21 win over Lake Mead Christian Academy. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Lincoln County's win came from a few key players Pershing County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kavon Almaraz, who rushed for 176 yards and three scores while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 29 yards and one TD. He has become a key player for Lincoln County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Mason Sinay was in the mix too, providing the Lynx with two touchdowns.

Lincoln County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Almaraz led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 102 rushing yards. Kelson was another major factor on D, picking up four sacks and making eight total tackles (6.0 for loss).
Pershing County's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Lincoln County, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Everything came up roses for Pershing County against Lincoln County when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 51-7 win. In that matchup, the Mustangs amassed a halftime lead of 45-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
