Preview: Ravenswood Red Devils vs. Tyler Knights
Ravenswood has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Tyler Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tyler took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ravenswood, who comes in off a win.
In what's become a running theme this season, Ravenswood gave their fans yet another huge win last Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ritchie County 60-28 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Ravenswood has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Hadleigh McGoskey, who scored 26 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Ravenswood's points. Another player making a difference was Maci Mosser, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Tyler unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Clay-Battelle by a score of 44-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Tyler has suffered yet this season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Braeden Wall, who scored four points along with 14 rebounds and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maleah Weber, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Ravenswood is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Tyler, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's contest: Ravenswood have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Tyler, though, as they've been averaging only 4.4 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Ravenswood against Tyler when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 68-36 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ravenswood since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
