Basketball Recap: Taft Comes Up Short

Taft saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a blow against the Valencia Vikings, falling 85-51. The Toreadors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Taft lost, don't look at Joseph Dickson. Despite the final result, he posted 21 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Thomas, who earned ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valencia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Romel McCoy, who shot 62% from beyond the arc en route to 30 points. Steven Irons was another key player, going 7-for-8 on his way to 15 points along with eight boards and three blocks.

Taft now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Valencia, their record now sits at 6-2.

Taft has already played their next contest, a 67-58 loss against Rancho Christian on the 4th. As for Valencia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 79-60 victory against Hart on the 5th.
