Baseball Recap: Meridian Wins Going Away Against Quitman

After losing to Quitman the last time they met, Meridian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Wildcats blew past the Panthers 19-11 on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Blake Logan was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Meridian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-17 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquan Grant, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meridian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meridian's win bumped their record up to 8-17. As for Quitman, their loss dropped their record down to 13-13.

Meridian has already played their next match (against Neshoba Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Quitman, they will welcome Louisville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
