Softball Recap: Greenback Gets the Win

Greenback posted their closest victory since May 7, 2024 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-16 win over the Harriman Blue Devils. This was a revenge game for the Cherokees: when they faced off against the Blue Devils back in March, they had to take a 13-11 loss.

Greenback got a massive performance out of Elizabeth Davis, who went 2-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Anderson, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5.

Greenback always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .551. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Greenback moved to 4-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Harriman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenback will square off against Oakdale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Harriman, they will face off against Meigs County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.08 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
