Softball Recap: Kountze Comes Up Short

Kountze came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-0 to the Kirbyville Wildcats. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

Mckinley Rowinsky spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

Kountze's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Kirbyville, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Kountze has already played their next game, a 7-2 loss against Orangefield on the 11th. As for Kirbyville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 22-0 win against Warren on the 11th.
