Mayflower has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Pottsville Apaches at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Last Saturday, it was close, but Mayflower sidestepped Des Arc for a 2-1 victory.
Meanwhile, Pottsville came tearing into last Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They won by a run and slipped past the Rockets 2-1. The win was just what Pottsville needed coming off of an 8-2 defeat in their prior matchup.
Savanna Mackey was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Mackey has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Mackey was also solid in the batter's box, getting a hit from her one at bat.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kara Liverett, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
