Basketball Recap: Eastmoor Academy Piles Up the Points Against Independence

Eastmoor Academy won the last time they faced Independence and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Eastmoor Academy Warriors blew past the Independence 76ers 82-53. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Phonie Simpkins had a dynamite game for Eastmoor Academy, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. What's more, Simpkins also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was King Moody, who went 7 for 11 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Eastmoor Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Independence still got an impressive performance from Montael Davis, who posted 19 points. Darren White-Tyler was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Eastmoor Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Independence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-18.

Eastmoor Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-39 victory against Marion-Franklin on the 7th. As for Independence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-41 defeat against South on the 7th.
