Basketball Game Preview: Springer Red Devils vs. Cimarron Rams

Springer is 0-10 against Cimarron since February of 2023 but things could change on Saturday. The Red Devils are taking a road trip to challenge the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Springer knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Cimarron likes a good challenge.

Springer can't be too worried about heading out to take on Cimarron: they just beat Roy/Mosquero at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. The Red Devils came out on top against the Blue/Lady Blue by a score of 58-48 on Thursday.

Springer's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Xavier Armijo, who posted 27 points along with seven boards and five steals, and Pablo Romero, who earned 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The contest was Armijo's fourth in a row with at least 16 points.

Springer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Cimarron entered their tilt with Roy/Mosquero on Saturday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Blue/Lady Blue 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since January 15th.

Springer's record is now 19-10. As for Cimarron, their record now sits at 21-4.

Springer suffered a grim 84-59 defeat to Cimarron when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
