Baseball Recap: Oakdale Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Oakdale won against Port Barre on Monday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Warriors beat the Red Devils by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Terance Robinson and Keane Micelle were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Robinson didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Micelle struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Robinson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Micelle got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases. Micelle is becoming a predictor of Oakdale's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 9-12 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Braedan Strother was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Jayce Halvorson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Oakdale's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-12. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Port Barre, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16-1 record this season.

Oakdale will have a chance to go back-to-back against Port Barre: the pair will be back at it again later today.
