Excelsior Classical Academy took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They really took it to The Hawbridge School Herons for the full four quarters, racking up a 51-9 victory. With the Flying Lions ahead 35-2 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Leading Excelsior Classical Academy to victory were Arihanna Williams and Justice Mims. Williams posted 21 points and eight steals, while Mims scored 21 points and five steals. Williams is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Libby Gross, who put up two points and five rebounds.
The Hawbridge School's loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Coming up, Excelsior Classical Academy will head out to take on Triangle Math & Science at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawbridge School will be paying especially close attention to the Flying Lions' contest: after the Flying Lions face off against Emerson Waldorf, they'll take on The Hawbridge School again at 5:30 p.m. on December 1.
