Basketball Recap: Leah Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mt. Clemens over Edison Academy

Mt. Clemens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 43-34 to the Edison Academy Pioneers. The Battling Bathers lost against the Pioneers in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 60-27 score last time.

Mt. Clemens' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leah Williams, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. Those ten steals gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaidah Williams, who posted 12 points.

Even though they lost, Mt. Clemens was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Mt. Clemens' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Edison Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Clemens will venture away from home to take on University Prep Science & Math at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Edison Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Chandler Park Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
