Volleyball Game Preview: Niles West Wolves vs. Oak Park-River Forest Huskies

Niles West is 0-3 against Oak Park-River Forest since April of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Wolves will face off against the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. The last three games Niles West has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Niles West will bounce into Friday's game after beating Vernon Hills, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Wolves narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cougars 2-1.

Niles West had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-21, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Oak Park-River Forest earned a 2-0 win over Loyola Academy on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.

Oak Park-River Forest not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Loyola Academy between 16 and 18 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18.

Niles West has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Oak Park-River Forest, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Niles West came up short against Oak Park-River Forest in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
