Basketball Recap: Animas Takes a Loss

Animas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 24th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Cloudcroft Bears, falling 49-23. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 70-45 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.

Despite the loss, Animas still got an impressive performance from Tallon Marble, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Cloudcroft was led to victory by Jacob Dodson and Rylee Pahl. Dodson went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points in addition to six assists and three steals, while Pahl went 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points. Another player making a difference was Tyson Thompkins, who had five points and six rebounds.

Animas' defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Cloudcroft, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Animas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 97-31 loss against Alamo Navajo on the 16th. As for Cloudcroft, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-37 defeat against Gateway Christian on the 14th.
