Softball Recap: Bishop Kelly Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bishop Kelly had no problem doing just that on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Burley Bobcats an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Knights have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lauren Fettic made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Fettic was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julia Baerlocher, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kingsley Shea, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Bishop Kelly hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matchups.

Bishop Kelly is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Burley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-12.

Bishop Kelly didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-2 victory against Middleton on the 16th. Burley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
