Basketball Recap: Lake Minneola Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Lake Minneola took on South Lake on Tuesday. The Lake Minneola Hawks received a blow as they fell 48-32 to the South Lake Eagles. The Hawks just can't catch a break and have now endured seven losses in a row.

South Lake got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ale Franceschi out in front who posted 15 points. The dominant performance gave Franceschi a new career-high in points. Ella Cochran was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Lake Minneola's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for South Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Lake Minneola won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wildwood at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wildwood will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Lake Minneola surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Lake, they will challenge East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
