Basketball Recap: South Shelby Comes Up Short

If South Shelby was riding high fresh off their 72-44 takedown of Highland last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South Shelby Cardinals fell just short of the Monroe City Panthers by a score of 57-55 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Panthers are ranked 85th).

South Shelby's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Monroe City, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

South Shelby didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-44 loss against Palmyra on the 7th. As for Monroe City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-56 defeat against Bowling Green on the 7th.
