Softball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Muskego

Muskego entered their tilt with Catholic Memorial on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Cora Jahimiak made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Gumieny, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ella Gibson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Muskego hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Muskego's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Catholic Memorial, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Coming up, Muskego will face off against Hamilton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 3.6, the Chargers 1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Catholic Memorial has already played their next contest (against Delavan-Darien), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
