Basketball Game Preview: Cato-Meridian Blue Devils vs. Lafayette Lancers

The Cato-Meridian Blue Devils and the Lafayette Lancers will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cato-Meridian will be strutting in after a win while Lafayette will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row dating back to last season, Cato-Meridian turned things around against Hannibal on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-47 victory over the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Lafayette unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 57-37 to Weedsport on Tuesday. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Cato-Meridian was dealt a bruising 53-26 defeat at the hands of Lafayette in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cato-Meridian was down 31-8.
