Football Game Preview: Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic Yellowjackets vs. Watertown Warriors

Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic hasn't had much luck against Watertown recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Yellowjackets will host the Warriors at 1:00 p.m. Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic will be strutting in after a victory while Watertown will be coming in after a defeat.

Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 41-16 margin over Wolcott on Saturday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-8.

Cole Linnen was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries. Those 109 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Wesely Allyn also helped with two TDs in total.

Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off six passes before the game was over. Tyler Roberts led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by himself. Allyn got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Watertown fell victim to Seymour and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 47-0 loss at the hands of the Wildcats.

Watertown's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic was dealt a bruising 42-6 loss at the hands of Watertown in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
